Reunions

Dance: Reunions (1997)
Tune: "Reunion Jig", Russ Barenberg c. 1989 as printed in The Portland Collection, played AABB ad desideratum.

Duple Minor / Longways, Proper.

A1       First gentleman casts* below second man into his corner’s position (his corner waits 4 measures and then turns single L diagonally across the set into his position); they turn once around by R hand to end in each others’ position.
A2       First lady casts* below her partner into her corner’s position (her corner waits 4 measures and then turns single R diagonally across the set into her position); they turn once around by L hand to end in each others’ position.
* These casts are wide, and the #2 person waits until their corner has reached a point roughly alongside their partner before turning single up (out of the way!). It should not be a "bump", but a continuous motion for the #1.
All are now improper and progressed; all face opposite up/down the set.
B1       Three changes R & L variation: taking near hand with partner, set to the opposite couple and pass by w/ R hand; taking near hand with with neighbor, set to partner and pass by w/ L hand;
B2       Taking near hand with partner, set to opposite couple and pass by w/ R hand; turn partner 2 hands once around.

(First corners ready to cast up/down to continue.)

Note:       I was inspired by the version of this tune recorded by the Rodney Miller Band on their album Greasy Coat, and presented to Ruth Temple as a safe-homecoming wish when she went off to work at Pinewoods Dance Camp summer 1999 (and she did come Home thereafter, too).
